Small body big impact!

Written, narrated, and produced by Nicole Martínez-Llaurador, Rieka Yu, and Sarah Groendyk, July 2019, La Selva Biological Station, Costa Rica.

Leaf cutter ants. They're everywhere here at La Selva Biological Station, busily cutting and carrying leaves to be used to grow food in their massive nests. Individually, these ants are tiny, but together they play a very important role in the forest's ecosystem. Billiam Thomas, an ant researcher at La Selva, speaks about the importance of leaf cutter ants to tropical ecosystems and the people that live in and around them.
