comfort in Costa Rican food made with love

by Rieka Yu

One of the greatest things about going to all the research stations we visited around Costa Rica is the love put into making the food. The food is always so delicious and they are always so happy to see us and feed us. The course is jam-packed with work but the dining hall is always a haven. It's a place where we can take a break from the work and the stress. Seeing the chefs welcome us is like being at home where my parents also comfort me with food. I think one of the most important takeaways from this course is to truly appreciate the amount of work the chefs in each station do all day, every day, and the fact that they put in so much love to the food.
